So here are some of the books I paired with each track for “Gracie Abrams Songs as Books”.
1. Felt Good About You -God of War by Rina Kent
“Fell hard and felt good about you, ’til I didn’t” is the anthem of the “She fell first” trope. Almost every single romance book I have read with this trope has this plot when the girl falls first but regrets later for thinking how they even felt good about the boy. And the first track reminded me of my current read, God of War.
It is the 6th and final book in the legacy of gods series. Which also ends the current Rina verse as all of Rina Kents books are interconnected. The book is about Eli King and Ava Nash King. Who are children frenemies and their parents are also best friends as they have their own group and all the kids grew up together.
As Eli and Ava grew up together, Ava fell for Eli and confessed her love when she turned 17. But Eli broke her heart and shattered all her hope of them being together and showing how cruel he could be and making Ava think all the feelings she had are no longer good. But as the years pass, things take different turns and eventually they get their second chance too.
2. Risk – Funny Story by Emily Henry
When your fiance leaves you for his best friend right before your marriage and you are forced to move out and live with said best friends ex it is equally complicated and risky. Which is the scenario for Daphne as she finds herself living with Miles knowing he had the girl and why it didn’t work out as they were both going through the same situation.
If living together wasn’t messier and risky they had to fake date to make their exes jealous. As they begin living and healing together while fake dating it gets riskier but they both shoot down every feeling and finding peace in each other.
3. Blowing Smoke – All Your Perfects by Colleen Hoover
Everything in Quinn and Graham’s life was perfect until it wasn’t. Ever since they met 7 years of marriage everything was perfect or at least they were trying to keep it together. But things go too much to the point where all the growth and efforts start crumbling. While dealing with the most sensitive thing in Quinn’s life she questions Graham’s actions that breaks the last straw of their marriage and love.
The song pretty much sums up a major part of the book which is not totally exact and true but it’s a lot similar among many things. Since it contains major spoilers that could ruin your whole reading experience, it is recommended just to dive into this book after checking the trigger warnings as it deals with heavy topics. But it’s dual pov and dual timeline, some told through letters.
4. I Love You, I’m Sorry – Terms and Condition by Lauren Asher
Everytime I read something similar to two souls communicating with a language none other than themselves know, it reminds me of my beloved Iris and Declan.
“To those two lines from Taylor Swift’s Illicit Affairs about a secret language—Thanks for existing. You helped inspire Declan and Iris’s non-translatable word game.” – from terms and conditions acknowledgements. After years of working as Declan;s assistant, Iris finds herself in a marriage of convenience with him for a mutually beneficial deal.
As they start living together they grow close and get to see the real people. Soon the fake marriage turns into real as they slowly fall for each other and a unique thing they do to confess that by using the secret language they speak and only they can understand.
5. Us – Forget Me Not by Julie Soto
After witnessing her mothers failed marriages, Ama Torres believes she can never find love and even if she does it will end up in ruins. But fate is hell bent on tying Ama with Elliot forever but Ama believes firmly that her fate will be like her mother and decides to break Elliot’s heart.
Forget me not follow Ama Torres who’s an ambitious wedding planner and gets an opportunity that might change her career’s success but soon she realizes she has to work with the boy whose heart she broke 2 years ago. And the story goes on with Ama’s pov as present timeline and Elliot’s pov as past timeline and Elliot Bloom is the softest grump ever, who has to take care of the flower shop his father left for him. No matter how much of a burden he thinks handling the business is, he secretly loves it because… “Flowers are better than people.”
6. Let It Happen – Just for the Summer
What was supposed to be a simple summer fling to break Emma and Justin’s curse and find their soulmate becomes the exact opposite as they find themselves navigating more than what they made their deal about. Or they both thought, “Just for you, I let it happen.”
From being strangers who knew nothing about each other to renting a small cottage on a beach to getting to know each other to date and eventually date to breaking up for breaking their curse they find them falling for each other and finding their soulmates in each other too.
7. Tough Love – Kingpin’s Foxglove by Bree Porter

8. I Knew It, I Know You -You with a view by Jessica Joyce
Noelle and Theo were academic rivals back in college. They had nothing but hatred towards themselves the whole college years till they graduated. After that, years passed they have lived a lot, loved a lot and definitely lost a lot. Noelle, who was really close to her grandma and recently lost her. While going through her things, she found a letter and a few photographs which might be her gram’s young love.
In order to find out the truth she posts about that on TikTok anonymously and the next morning her phone was blowing up with notification as the video got viral. At least her video got to the right person who might help her discover more (or maybe too right as the person happened to be her old successful college nemesis “Theodore Spencer” she hates) despite her hateness she meets his grandpa “Paul” the man from gramps letter and discovers he and gram used to date back in college and they wanted to elope and go to their dream honeymoon road trip and be together forever but sadly couldn’t.
So, Noelle decides to fulfill her gran’s unfinished dream and go on a road trip by herself and document the whole thing but Paul and Theo also decide to join her. Which was definitely not on the plan for Theo as he was dealing a lot personally but maybe Noelle had to change that for their second chance.

11. Good Luck Charlie – Darling Venom by Parker S. Huntington
The verse feels like something Killian would tell when he finds out Charlie and Tate finally found themselves and their peace and happily ever after among each other.
Darling venom was divided in 3 parts which are set in two different timelines with multiple povs.
Charlotte Richard’s life is crumbling and she no longer wants to survive this cruel world and decides to end everything on her birthday only to find the loner emo boy from her class ,Kellen Marchetti for the same reason on the rooftop. But they spend a few hours together and decide they are gonna fight their demons and check on each other every year on the same day, in the same place.
As they meet every year they discover more about themselves, grow attached but stick to their plan. As Charlie heals Kellen suffers in silence. Four years later Kellen breaks his promise and leaves Charlie in this cruel world all alone but she decides to live and get better alone. Few years later she accidentally meets Kellen’s brother Tate and they both discover more about Kellen through his letters and work together to make his dream come true. As they work together they bond with their grief and find peace in each other.

12. Free Now – The Annihilator by Runyx
This song feels like a sweeter version of the similarly painful Can’t Catch Me Now by Olivia Rodrigo. There is nothing I can say about this book without spoiling as every single word counts as a spoiler. But it follows Shadow man and Layla. If you’re done with the last four books you’ll find bits of Shadow man as he appears anonymously in all the books and already guess who Layla is.
Almost everything about this book is connected to the last four and definitely contains spoilers. Even the actual name of the main characters also count as spoilers because all the books in the series need to be read in order.
But the song pretty much sums up the main plot of the book. And since I could not find a better book to match and pair up with this song I will just leave it here and recommend reading the series. If you need the reading guide, check
13. Close To You – The Seven Year Slip by Ashley Poston
The anthem of many Book Tok popular books or the most used audios for book edits. But finally a book that matches every single word of this song along with a book cover with the album cover.
Seven Year Slip is a Time Travel romance novel which is set in a magical timeline. After unexpectedly losing her aunt, Clementine moves into her apartment despite knowing there is something magical and mysterious about the apartment. Until one day, she finds an attractive man, Iwan, in the kitchen.
As they get to know each other, Clementine finds herself seven years in the past, while Iwan is seven years into the future. But she is ready to burn for him even though he doesn’t know her name, (well, he does but calls her lemon) and she is ready to give up everything to be close to him.
