Sunrise on the Reaping Cast vs. My Fan Cast (9+)
We are finally getting the official Sunrise on the Reaping Cast one by one but I’m right where the book left me…
The book was released more than a month ago but I still can’t get over it, maybe I won’t till I get to watch the live action movie. I’ve been re reading, writing and making contents on Sunrise on the Reaping Casts all the while. I also made a fancast list while reading the book and after finally getting the official cast list of the main characters I am satisfied and surprisingly it matches my expectations too.

About Sunrise on the Reaping Book and Movie
Sunrise on the Reaping is 0.5 book in Suzanne Collins Hunger Games series and the sequel of The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes. Set in the same hunger games world, 24 years before the first hunger games book It’s about Haymitch Abernathy.
During the Second Quarter Quell of the 50th Hunger Games Haymitch Abernathy from District 12 reaches twenty as he faces the inhumane system that aims to destroy him in the brutal games. The bitter alteration of the Quarter Quell tribute rules destroys all of Haymitch’s dreams as it forcibly tears him from his nearest and dearest people including his beloved girl. As a District 12 tribute his alliance with other Capitol victims becomes clear because the Capitol schemed his demise from the beginning.
An unyielding commitment erupts in his heart to confront both the captainial dominance and the possibility of staying alive. The book exposes how the Capitol falsified truths while revealing the cruel entertainment nature of their actions together with their propaganda extent. Through its narrative the book investigates themes that explore oppression alongside manipulation processes and studies the human strength which maintains existence under merciless violence.
The movie will be based on this book and It is confirmed it will be about Haymitch and will revolve around him and we will finally get to see his story come to life. It will be set in the same hunger games universe and we might see some of the old cast members having cameos in this movie.

About Sunrise on the Reaping Cast :
Only three of the main cast have been revealed. And surprisingly the main two characters are underrated actors but they are part of very popular tv shows. Like, Whitney Peak
Joseph Yada – The Sydney-based television talent Joseph Zada appears to be 20 years old as he establishes his career in front of the camera. The Australian limited series *Invisible Boys* features him as a lead role in its adaptation of Holden Sheppard’s award-winning novel. The actor appeared in two major Australian TV shows in 2024 including the political drama *Total Control* as well as the hit drama *Total Control* alongside other popular actors.
Johnny who plays in the anticipated adaptation series *We Were Liars* of E. Lockhart’s best-selling novel is preparing for future roles in both TV shows. Executive producer Julie Plec alongside writer Carina Adly MacKenzie adapt the show for television in a project that will offer Zada the chance to perform across emotional and gripping material.
Zada will portray Cal Trask within the limited Netflix series *East of Eden* which takes a modern look at John Steinbeck’s renowned novel. The film brings together actors Florence Pugh, Mike Faist, Christopher Abbott, Hoon Lee, Tracy Letts, and Martha Plimpton for its prominent production.

Whitney Peak –
Born on January 28, 2003 Whitney Peak is a Ugandan-Canadian actress and fashion trailblazer, in Kampala, Uganda. She spent the first decade of her life in Uganda before making a move to Port Coquitlam, British Columbia during 2012. The student began her education at Terry Fox Secondary School before continuing her acting education at institutions in Vancouver.
Whitney Peak launched into sustained fame in 2021 when HBO Max selected her to play the lead role of Zoya Lott in their contemporary version of the beloved *Gossip Girl* series. The brief runtime of the show resulted in massive public recognition for Whitney Peak together with excellent critical reviews. Her work as Becca in Disney+’s *Hocus Pocus 2* strengthened her position as a promising young talent in Hollywood. Whitney Peak solidified her role in pop culture by joining Sabrina Carpenter in the music video for “Nonsense” during 2021.
Whitney has used her fame from acting as a foundation to establish herself as a dominant presence in the fashion industry. The American wing of Chanel brand announced Whitney as its brand ambassador through a formal announcement in 2021. In 2023 Whitney Houston became the first Black woman chosen to represent the dominant Coco Mademoiselle fragrance at Chanel while consolidating her global status as a style icon.
Whitney will lead as Lenore Dove Baird in *The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping* which forms part of the successful franchise’s new release. Her upcoming schedule includes star roles in the psychological thriller Shiver with Phoebe Dynevor and Djimon Hounsou as well as Trap House and 4 Kids Walk Into a Bank and Eye for an Eye.
Both her mesmerizing presence in movies and her dual role in film and fashion have established Whitney Peak as an extraordinary upcoming talent in the industry.
And now we have our Maysilee Donner aka Mckenna Grace
Mckenna Grace entered the acting world at five years old when she was born on June 25, 2006 in Grapevine Texas. People consider her a top child actor during her time because she performs emotive work with challenging parts effectively. Grace gained popularity through two key performances in *Gifted* (2017) as a child prodigy and *I. Tonya* (2017) where she depicted the young Tonya Harding. Her performances in television earned Emmy nomination status for her work in The Handmaid’s Tale as Esther Keyes and brought her widespread popularity as Phoebe Spengler in the Ghostbusters franchise.
When not acting, Gwaithirne succeeds as an artist through her emotionally deep music which she reveals in her Bittersweet 16 EPs and songs including “Haunted House.” The horror movie genre has named Grace an iconic female scream player due to her growing involvement in the genre. Future projects for the rising star include her role in the movie adaptation of Colleen Hoover’s *Regretting You* (2025) along with a place in *Scream 7* (2026) and her most recent role in the *Hunger Games* prequel *Sunrise on the Reaping*.
