Happy Place by Emily Henry : Summary, Tropes, Review, Q & A, Annotations
“I am happier than I’ve ever been. Don’t yet know that there is a level of happiness even deeper, one so intense it hurts, almost like loss or grief. A happiness so bright and hot you feel like it could incinerate you. ”

This is EXACTLY how I feel about reading this book!! Emily Henry has a way of writing words that you’ll feel right in your heart. Honestly it feels like Taylor Swift lyrics. Who am i kidding there were certain parts that ACTUALLY felt like my favorite ts songs!! Like “Maroon” totally describes the whole book.

Blurb :
Harriet and Wyn have been the perfect couple since they met in college—they go together like salt and pepper, honey and tea, lobster and rolls. Except, now—for reasons they’re still not discussing—they don’t.
They broke up six months ago. And still haven’t told their best friends.
Which is how they find themselves sharing the largest bedroom at the Maine cottage that has been their friend group’s yearly getaway for the last decade. Their annual respite from the world, where for one vibrant, blue week they leave behind their daily lives; have copious amounts of cheese, wine, and seafood; and soak up the salty coastal air with the people who understand them most. Happy Place by Emily Henry Summary :
It follows ex-fiance’s Harriet and Wyn who were together for almost a decade and share the same friends group. In order to not ruin their annual weeklong vacation for everyone they have to pretend to be together for a while. This story is written from Harriets pov and its a dual timeline which keeps jumping from “Happy Place” which are times throughout Harriet’s life with friends and wyn and all her happy moments to “Real Life” which is the present time where everything is a mess.
Although this book was mostly about Harriet and wyn, we get to see more of their friends, their lives, and all the throwbacks throughout both timelines.
My Review :
Whenever I’m starting a Emily Henry book I feel like I’m going on a new journey even though I know the blurb and tropes but as soon as I start the first chapter I don’t know what book it is but I’m HOOKED and I’m not moving anywhere before I finish this. (and that’s true I read this book in one sitting).
I went through an Emily Henry book binging last year right after reading book lovers and happy place was one of my most anticipated reads of this year and I absolutely loved every bit of it but I still have some opinions on this book.
Final thoughts + opinions (CONTAINS SPOILER)
I enjoyed every second reading this book but it was not something I’ll think about for a long time. The storyline and characters were really well written but I still felt some plot holes in some chapters. I didn’t like the ending.
I absolutely support everyone chasing their dreams and doing anything their heart desires but quitting something you were really passionate about and worked almost your whole life? Umm hmm.. The group’s friendship was everything to me and hopefully we will get similar but better book like this in the future

If i’ve read any other books by the same author my ranking changes a lot but not this case. I don’t think any book can replace Beach Read and I wish I could read that for the first time again!
