2025 might be the year for the booktok lovers, so here is a list of Booktok Book To Screen Adaptations Updates!

2025 has already been blessed with a great year of book to screen adaptations. I know we are only 2 months in but with the amount of so many good movies and tv shows we got and will be getting in the next few months. I think 2025 will be good. As a book lover, I love when my favorite books get their adaptations no matter how good or bad it turns out but the fact that I will get to experience the characters’ lives after reading them on paper is a different kind of feeling.

At the beginning of 2025, in January we got Xo, kitty season, then in february my fault london, in march we’ll be getting The Electric State and in summer we will be getting brand new seasons of The Summer I Turned Pretty, My Life, brinfderton, with the Walter Boys, Maxton hall and so many more and on top of everything there are so many book to screen adaptation announcements featuring some of the m\best artists.

So I made a list of movies and tv shows that are coming out in 2025, new announcements and updates

Xo, Kitty Season 3

Expected Release Date : Early 2026

Will be available on : Netflix

It’s been only a month but we got xo kitty season 3 announcement! The popular teen tv series which is based on Jenny Hans fictional universe “To all The Boys”.

So far what we know is it will be set in summer and begin right after the cliffhanger ending of season 2. There is no new cast information yet but as it might be the final season we can hope to see some of the og all the boys cast in this Especially after Peter Kabinsky cameo in episode of xo kitty season 2.

A third season of XO, Kitty is scheduled for release on Netflix as production continues to develop the story of Kitty Song Covey. 1 Season 3 will answer Season 2’s unresolved plot points through more Kitty-oriented romantic dramas and character development with summer-themed content. 2 All main cast members including Anna Cathcart are expected to return. There exists no confirmed release date but experts predict 2026 for its debut.

People We Meet on Vacation by Emily Henry (Movie)

Expected Release Date : August 2025

The trailer isn’t even out yet but after the cast reveal and sneak peak I am already considering this one of the best book to screen adaptation rom com of current times.

People We Meet on Vacation will be a movie adapted from Emily Henry’s book by the same name. Best friends Poppy and Alex have spent a week together in summertime for ten consecutive years. These friends have totally different personalities but their bond remains completely clear because Poppy is always on the move despite her best friend Alex’s love for staying at home. Their friendship broke in a strange incident which occurred two years ago causing them to separate permanently.

Currently stuck in a despairing state of life Poppy recalls her most memorable joyful moment as the disastrous last trip Alex took with her ten years ago. Spurred by the yearning need to repair their damaged connection she extends a final proposal for travel with hopes both of them will reveal their true thoughts and rebuild their bond. To her surprise, Alex agrees.

Poppy must handle their complicated background during the one-week period when she needs to address the hidden truths that have consistently been present between them. During their last journey together they need to reveal why they stopped talking during the past two years while deciding if their bond or deeper feelings can regain strength.

PoppyWright and Alex Nilsen will be played by Emily Bader and Tom Blythe. Here are some of the confirmed cast members, Sarah Catherine Hook, Jameela Jamil, Lucien Laviscount, Lukas Gage, Alan Ruck, and Molly Shannon.

The Housemaid Series by Freida McFadden (Movie)

Verity by Colleen Hoover (Movie)

Expected Release Date : May 15, 2026.

Amazon MGM Studios plans to produce a film adaptation of “Verity” by Colleen Hoover which serves as a psychological thriller that Michael Showalter will direct. The story follows Lowen Ashleigh as she accepts a financial job to finish series books from Verity Crawford who suffers from an incapacitating post-accident injury. The author Verity suffers an incapacitating injury from a tragic event which prevents her from writing anymore.

Lowen takes the assignment because she needs income and accepts employment at the Crawford family estate where she will analyze Verity’s notes and works in progress. She discovers an unpublished autobiography written by Verity which remained hidden during her stay there. The autobiography reveals disturbing facts which question the tragic events that have struck the Crawford clan. Lowen uncovers more of Verity’s writings at the same time she gets swept deeper into a tangled web of serious problems within the Crawford family.

Stellar actors take the lead in The Common Heart starring Anne Hathaway as Verity Crawford and Dakota Johnson as Lowen Ashleigh and Josh Hartnett plays the role of grieving husband Jeremy Crawford. Audiences can anticipate an intense cinematic experience because the film should accomplish all the novel’s suspenseful atmosphere while portraying its psychological complexity and multifaceted characters. Movie theaters will be the platform for this film yet its official release date remains undisclosed.

Regretting You by Colleen Hoover (Movie)

Expected Release Date : October 24, 2025.

Yess, another Colleen Hoover book to screen adaptation is in the works. 

The teenage daughter Clara shares no similarity with her mother Morgan Grant who are constantly fighting. The early marriage and motherhood Morgan gave up in her youth leads her to try restraining Clara from making comparable errors. Clara views her mother with disillusionment because the teenage girl feels the woman is unfulfilling and monotonous. Everything changes after Chris passes away unexpectedly because his presence was the only thing holding the two women together.

After the death both Morgan and Clara search for peace by turning to unfamiliar activities which brings new mysteries and misinterpretations into their lives. The damage toward their existing broken relationship progresses until complete reconciliation appears impossible. The book investigates grief effects together with mother-daughter communication breakdowns and family relationships which might become beyond repair.

Frankenstein by Mary Shelley (Movie)

Expected Release Date : November 2025.

The highly anticipated Frankenstein adaptation by Guillermo del Toro for Netflix promises to bring both visually stunning and emotionally touching cinematic content to viewers. Because it represents his personal project the acclaimed director leads this film as it depicts the deep core concepts from “Frankenstein” by Mary Shelley about ambitious behavior and human nature while addressing scientific morality dilemmas.

Percy Jackson and the Olympians Season 2

Expected Release Date : December 2025.

A Disney+ series based on the Percy Jackson book series plans to convert “The Sea of Monsters” into season 2 material. The second season of the Disney+ adaptation will show Percy together with Annabeth and Tyson on their mission to save Grover and recover the Golden Fleece through updated visual effects that depict all magical mythical creatures. The entertainment industry forecasts the upcoming release of this project between 2025 and 2026.

The second year at Camp Half-Blood faces danger after its magical boundaries break down while Grover disappears in the dangerous Sea of Monsters. Percy Jackson decided to save both his friends by leading Annabeth along with his new Cyclops half-brother Tyson in a mission to retrieve the Golden Fleece. The protagonists encounter mythical threats from Circe as well as Scylla and Charybdis during their journey and Luke Castellan proves difficult to deal with along the way. By completing their dangerous mission the heroes find success yet the Golden Fleece unexpectedly brings back to life Thalia, daughter of Zeus which alters the current prophecy details.

The lead role of Cadence Sinclair Eastman goes to Emily Alyn Lind who joins Shubham Maheshwari along with Esther McGregor and Joseph Zada making up the rest of the “Liars”. The series plans to adapt the story lines from the original novel as it delves into Beechwood Island secrets while examining themes of privilege as well as memory retention. Fans can anticipate the Amazon Prime Video adaptation of this suspense-filled story during 2025.

The story follows wealthy teenager Cadence Sinclair Eastman during her efforts to reconstruct memories from a summer disaster at Beechwood Island. Two years pass before the lead character’s return shows her the disturbing reality about her family and her small group of friends known as the “Liars”. The Summer I Turned Pretty Season 3

Expected Release Date : July 2025.

Fans eagerly wait for “The Summer I Turned Pretty” season 3 which will complete the tumultuous romance between Belly and her love interests Conrad and Jeremiah by adapting the final book “We’ll Always Have Summer.” Season 3 of “The Summer I Turned Pretty” will follow the emotional and romantic development in “We’ll Always Have Summer” to captivate its passionate viewer base.

Lola Tung presents Belly in season 3 while she deals with her complicated emotions between Conrad (Christopher Briney) and Jeremiah (Gavin Casalegno). Audiences expect to see Belly complete her transformation journey to adulthood by deciding her path and whom she will love. The return of the main cast members guarantees storyline continuity because it enables the writers to extend current character storylines.

This upcoming season will feature ten parts to fully reveal the variations between the characters’ relationships and their complex feelings. Twisted Love by Ana Huang TV Series

Off-Campus Series by Elle Kennedy (TV Show)

The new adult romance novels of the “Off-Campus” series by Elle Kennedy follow four hockey players from Briar University through intertwined stories of their love lives based on sports and college interactions. The narrative in each book of the series follows one hockey player beginning with Garrett then Logan followed by Dean which ends with Tucker as the main characters meet their future loves and confront issues from college and athletics and friendship battles.

This series achieves fame through its powerful romantic content alongside developmental character growth and humorous plot lines and emotional intensity with its enemies-to-lovers storylines and pages of steamy romance and close-quarter relationships.

Sunrise on the Reaping by Suzanne Collins

Expected Release Date : November 20, 2026

Sunrise on the Reaping is an upcoming hunger games movie. Based on Suzanne Collins’ 0.5 book in the hunger games series it’s a science fiction dystopian movie set in the same universe as all the hunger games movies. Recently, on March 18, 2025 the book was released and the movie adaptation was announced to be released on November 20, 2026.

Following the main plot of the book and exploring young Haymichs story the movie will center around the 50th Hunger Games, also referred to as the Second Quarter Quell. The movie will be produced by Lionsgate. Francis Lawrencewill be back as the director who handled several Hunger Games films previously. Billy Ray will write the script for the project while Brad Simpson and Nina Jacobson will function as its producers.
