Some readers are happy, thrilled and some just have different opinions about it. Why? Haunting Adeline is the first book in The Cat and Mouse Duet. Which is a series of 5 books, though it started as a duet but to popular demand the author decided to give books to some of the important characters because of their mysteries plot.

So, Haunting Adeline and Hunting Adeline are the first two books. It’s about a 26 year old author Adeline Reilly, who moves into her late grandmother’s gothic Victorian manor in Washington and soon finds out that she is being monitored and stalked by a man named Zade Meadows, a vigilante hacker who hunts down human traffickers during his night-time hours and on Adeline at all other times of the day.

While the main plot begins like this it gets deeper with darker and creepier themes. It ends on a cliffhanger and the second book begins right after it so you have to read in order. It has to be read in order but you can read the rest of the books as complete standalone. But, I’d recommend reading in order so you don’t get any spoilers and have the best reading experience. If you think Haunting Adeline and Hunting Adeline are two distinct stories, you’re wrong, they are the same story in two books. The first book ends on a big cliffhanger, so if an Haunting Adeline film doesn’t get to adapt into an eventual Hunting Adeline film, then the story would truly be left hanging.

But now it gets complicated. The sequel, Hunting Adeline, takes many darker turns than the first book. The book contains abduction, human trafficking and so many darker elements that will put you straight into trauma. They’re concepts that, with faithfulness, would be very difficult if not impossible to make into a mainstream film theatrically, without an NC-17 rating.

Yes, of course. I highly recommend reading the book before the Haunting Adeline movie. It will also give you the choice if it’s for you, should you continue and then be ready for the Haunting Adeline Movie. The movie announcement already has a huge influx of new readers to this book and many people have been hesitant on purchasing it for a good reason.

Which makes it the perfect time to read it now before it’s adapted. But, I will repeat again, make sure to read the Content and Trigger warnings of the books before reading. because it’s not a good fit for everyone and that’s fine too.
