Back to school season is in full swing and the students spirit is over the roof, especially when we are in an off campus era. So whether you like Garrett’s study routine off campus or in a crisis where you think passing is impossible, well I got you. If Garrett Graham can have a study glow up while having a packed routine with hockey you can too!

1. Find your Hannah Wells As A Tutor

A tutor or study partner who can help and challenge you. Everything starts here. You need to find a study partner or tutor if you need help in the course. Who will help you study, push you to keep doing better, challenge you and hold you accountable.

Like Hannah Wells who was Garrett’s course mate who got the highest. And since Garrett was struggling he agreed to help him and be his tutor in exchange for a deal. Your Hanna can be anyone, a friend, course mate, tutor who is doing better in the course and can genuinely help you.

2. Make a Schedule that works for both of you

If you are a student it’s normal to have a million things in your to-do list especially if you are active with other work, jobs or sports. So, it might be tough to find the perfect time that works both for you and your tutor or study partner. That’s what Garrett and Hannah did because they couldn’t come up with a perfect routine because theirs were packed with classes, Hannah’s job, music rehearsal and Garrett Graham hockey practice and a million parties.

The only way it worked for them was when they made their routine around their properties. So, list your priorities and make the schedule around that together. And stick by it.

3. Get a coffee for you and your study partner

As someone who cannot function without coffee I loved that I got to add this on the routine. Garrett Graham got Hannah a coffee before their class even though he was late but we can let that side. Because coffee is essential. So, naturally it would be perfect to begin your study sessions with some caffeine. If you need some changes in the scenario you can go to a coffee shop to get some study done.

4. Phone on Dnd during study sessions

This is a non-negotiable from our tutor Hannah Wells and Garrett seemed to abide by it too. And, honestly this is very effective and has to be the best tip for an effective study session. During the first study session notifications seemed to not stop bothering Garrett Graham. So, Hannah took his phone and put the phone in dnd. It actually helps you to avoid any distraction and finish your studies properly and effectively.

5. Try not to Memorize and Apply it With Facts

This is a very important thing Hannah Taught Garrett and we can use it too as it applies to any courses or related to it. Garrett Graham is a very smart and talented student but he was only struggling in this course. Since doesn’t have any problem with memorizing, he kept doing that which was causing him trouble. But, Hannah told him to try to actually understand the concept first and apply it with real life facts and stuff.

She helped him to understand that instead of asking “what did Kant say?” you can ask “what would Kant say about THIS specific situation, and why, and do you actually agree with him?”. Which would help him do the philosophy course better and eventually pass with a good grade.

6. Use concepts that make sense to your brain

Another trick Hannah taught Graham that actually helped him the most was to make him actually understand philosophy by translating it to a language he’s familiar with. Of course this course can be unfamiliar and hard because of complex terms. As Garrett loves hockey she helped him understand it with hockey terms.

So whether you have your own something like hockey that you love or in general something easy which you can use as an example to understand the course concepts and remember you can do it too.

7. Multitask Strategically While You Move

As a student you already have a million things to do but if you can multitask like Garrett Graham I would suggest utilizing your time following it. After practice, he was working out while Hannah helped him study. He was also seen memorizing by himself while working out.

Even going through his flashcards and notes when was chilling with his friends. If you are also working out or cooking or doing any work that gives you space to multitask you can study too.

8. Arrive on time for classes and study sessions

This is something Garrett struggled with but eventually got better when strictly followed the routine. Arriving on time and early is beneficial so you have time to prepare for the lecture, don’t miss out any important details, get the perfect notes and if it’s a study session then you can have an effective one with your designated time.

9. Pay Attention and Take notes

Hannah does this and makes Garrett do it too. Which is why when they started out their deal and he was kinda distracting her in class she said she can’t take notes like this. So pay attention, listen to what your faculty is saying and make notes that help you when you study.

10. Make Flashcards and Go Through Them While Chilling

Garrett Graham was seen going through flashcards while chilling with friends. This is another good way to multitask and utilize your time. This also gives you a different environment to feel bored and get some study done actually. And more better if your friends are supportive and hyping you to get going.

11. Eat Nutritious Food To Fuel Your Brain

As an athlete this is non-negotiable too. But it also connected to your studies. If you don’t have enough energy and want your brain to keep healthy. You definitely need some nutritious food to fuel your brain and keep you energized. For Garrett Graham, luckily he has a chef bestie John Tucker who makes them for him. Food with High in omega-3s, carb-forward, no keto bs and of course some liquid iv.

12. More workout Because That’s the Garrett Graham Method

Moving your body and working out is really good for your study routine. It boosts your memory by increasing blood flow and sending oxygen to your brain. Which is of course good for an effective study session. As an athlete Garrett Graham does it almost every day, even multiple times I guess but it helps him too. So, you can pick your favorite workouts, go to the gym or pilates and move so you can be healthy.

13. Lower the Academic Anxiety and Enjoy

This is also a Garrett technique I noticed throughout the off campus series and even in the books. The whole college setting, the academic stress not only though graham but almost everyone especially exam seasons was also portrayed.

But, it was also nice to see almost all the students studying, chilling out at Malone’s, partying, doing karaoke and playing hockey and overall enjoying everything with friends while balancing studies. I also think for Garrett Graham Hannah helped a lot with his academic stress and also taught him the balance, so we can give this credit to Miss Hannah Wells and actually use this technique too.

14. Build a Rhythm

Lastly, building the rhythm, by making a routine or strategy to go with the flow. Which also helps with the techniques and the methods to Study Like Garrett Graham. So, make your own routine based on your schedule and priorities. Take some notes and choose these steps or a few you prefer and apply it. And, keep following these and you will be building the best rhythm and ace your academics just like Garette did.
