The Rinaverse is over for now with the last book in the legacy of gods series, God of War on June 13, 2024. And, like every Rina Kent book lover I don’t have any books from her blacklist either because I have read every single one of her books. And if you’re new to the Rina Kent book world, then checkout the guide here. But as for me I don’t have any books to read and I am already missing the Rina verse so I went through my never ending TBR and tried to find some books similar to her books and made this Rina Kent book rec.

About Rina Kent and Books :

First of all I would like to add what kind of books Rina writes and why I think these are some books you should read if you like Rina Kent books. Rina Kent is a USA Today, international, and #1 Amazon bestselling author of everything from enemies to lovers, dark romance. She’s known to write unapologetic anti-heroes and villains because she often fell in love with men no one roots for. Her books are sprinkled with a touch of darkness, a pinch of angst, and an unhealthy dose of intensity.

Books like Rina Kent :

Here are some of the authors and their books that are similar to Rina Kent. After discovering Rina’s books I’m always searching for similar books like her and pile up tbr list. So here are some I picked from the tbr list, some from the “Readers also enjoyed” section on Goodreads and some I’ve read and loved.

1. Sophie Lark books

When I discovered Sophie lark books it actually felt like I hit the jackpot because I was in my Rina Kent books era. And almost all of the Sophie Larks books are a lot similar to Rina Kent and that was a main reason why I spent the last year reading a big chunk of Sophie Larks books. You can check out my year in reading, for the stats.

If you like Rina Kent’s mafia, enemies to lovers, marriage of convenience, found family with darker elements and good plot twists start with Sophie Larks “Brutal Birthright Series”. It has a total of 6 books and combining the 5 books from the second generation books of the series “The Kingmakers” there are a total 11 books in the series. All the books are interconnected standalones but you can also read them in order to have a better experience.

The “Brutal Birthright” series follows Aida and Callum and their family and “The Kingmakers” series follows their kids books. The first book is about Aida and Callum. The 2nd one is about Callum’s sisters Nessa & Riona Griffin and the rest of the books are about Aida’s brothers Nero, Dante and Sebastian Gallo. Each of the books are set in slightly different timelines and all of them appear in the books. For a better experience and understanding the world better I’d recommend reading the books in order.

Here is the reading order Brutal Birthright Series by Sophie Lark :

  1. Brutal Prince (Brutal Birthright, #1) by Sophie Lark
  2. Stolen Heir (Brutal Birthright, #2) by Sophie Lark
  3. Savage Lover (Brutal Birthright, #3) by Sophie Lark
  4. Bloody Heart (Brutal Birthright, #4) by Sophie Lark
  5. Broken Vow (Brutal Birthright, #5) by Sophie Lark
  6. Heavy Crown (Brutal Birthright, #6) by Sophie Lark

Image via Goodreads

  1. The Heir (Kingmakers, #1) by Sophie Lark
  2. The Rebel (Kingmakers, #2) by Sophie Lark
  3. The Bully (Kingmakers, #3) by Sophie Lark
  4. The Spy (Kingmakers, #4) by Sophie Lark
  5. The Savage (Kingmakers, #5) by Sophie Lark
The Kingmakers Series by Sophie Lark :

The second generation of the series are also interconnected standalones with different timelines. The series follows the kids of Brutal birthright series by Sophia Lark as they are set to begin their college journey on an island. “Mafia families from around the world send their children to Kingmakers Academy to learn the skills of criminal enterprise.”

The series will give off Harry Potter x Mafia vibes with many great plot twists and found family tropes just like the Rina Kents legacy of gods series. Here is a recommended order to read the series. Will make a Sophie Lark author guide soon with more details.

2. Devil’s Night Series by Penelope Douglas

if you are new to the booktok world you might not know. But there are two horseman groups. One is the royal elite group and the 2nd one is the devil’s night. As both of the book series follow friend groups that call themselves the horsemen.

Mostly I find both of the series similar for friend groups and the found family trope with a mixture of good plot twists and the darker elements. The devil night series follows a group of friends just like the royal elite series and the 2nd generation series, legacy of gods.

  1. Corrupt (Devil’s Night, #1) by Penelope Douglas
  2. Hideaway (Devil’s Night, #2) by Penelope Douglas
  3. Kill Switch (Devil’s Night, #3) by Penelope Douglas
  4. Conclave (Devil’s Night, #3.5) by Penelope Douglas
  5. Nightfall (Devil’s Night, #4) by Penelope Douglas
  6. Fire Night (Devil’s Night, #4.5) by Penelope Douglas
  7. Punk 57 by Penelope Douglas (This book is set in the same world as the devil’s night, and the characters appear in some of the books in the series. It’s a complete standalone so you can read it right after finishing the series or before or just skip it if you don’t want to).

3. Dark verse series by Runyx

I am always looking out for opportunities to talk about the dark verse series or just convince everyone to read the series even though the final book is not out yet. (It’s coming this year kr soon). But it’s fine because I’ve been waiting for more than a year and still convincing my bookish friends to read this.

Dark verse series has a total of 6 books which follows 4 couples. It’s written in dual pov and from 3rd person. (Except the first two). All the books are set in the same universe but in different places. And all the characters in this series are interconnected as we meet them throughout the series and we’ll get them together again in the final book as the dark verse series wraps in The Syndicator.

Long story short, all the books and their main characters have their stories continuing and thickening a main plot that begins in the first book and will hopefully end in the last one. As The Syndicater by Runyx blurbs say, “It ends where it begins”. The books are really hard to explain but totally worth it even if you dive in without knowing anything about them. But make sure to search up for trigger warnings before reading. And all the book needs to be read in order.

Here is the reading order for The Dark verse series by Runyx :

  1. The Predator (Dark Verse #1)
  2. The Reaper (Dark Verse #2)
  3. The Emperor (Dark Verse #3)
  4. The Finisher (Dark Verse #4)
  5. The Annihilator (Dark Verse #5)
  6. The Syndicater (Dark Verse #6)

4. Ana Huang Books

I think everyone and their mother has read everything ana huang as she’s one of the most popular authors on booktok while being the New York times bestselling author. She mostly writes new adult, contemporary romance with dark themes and for that, some of the books might contain trigger warnings so make sure to check them before reading.

She has a total of 12 books which are divided into 3 series: If love series, twisted series and king of sin series. and all of them are set in the same universe with slightly different timelines and places. And some of the characters have cameos and mentions in some books.

If Love series by Ana Huang

If love series follow 3 couples. The first two books are like a duet that is about one couple Farah and Blake and the 3rd one is about Kris and Nate and the 4th and last one is about Olivia and Sammy. As for the reading order I’d recommend reading in order for a better experience. But almost all of them can be read as standalones.

The first needs to be read in order as it’s a duet and and follows the same couple with different timeline. The next two are complete standalones but the 3rd one takes place between books one (If We Ever Meet Again) and two (If the Sun Never Sets). So if you want you can read in order or whatever you prefer to read first based on the reading order and note.

  1. If We Ever Meet Again (If Love #1)
  2. If the Sun Never Sets (If Love #2)
  3. If Love Had a Price (If Love #3)
  4. If We Were Perfect (If Love #4)

Twisted series by Ana Huang

If anyone ever heard of Ana Huang’s name I just know it’s for the twisted series. The twisted series by Ana Huang is one of the most popular book series on Booktok. It follows a group of girls who are best friends just like Rina Kent’s “Royal Elite” and “Legacy of Gods” series girls. The first one is about Alex and Ava, the second one is about Ava’s friend Bridget and her bodyguard, the third one is about Ava’s brother Josh and friend Jules and the 4th and final one is about the remaining friends Stella and Cristian.

Each of their books are complete standalones but are set in slightly different timelines as each book begins right after the last one. So id recommend reading in order especially for the crumbs of the possible couples crumb in each book before their books.

Twisted series by Ana Huang in order :

  1. Twisted Love (Twisted #1)
  2. Twisted Games (Twisted #2)
  3. Twisted Hate (Twisted #3)
  4. Twisted Lies (Twisted #4)

King of Sin series by Ana Huang

And finally the ongoing Ana Huang King of Sin Series. The series is kind of a spin off series of the twisted series as the series follows the members of the Valhalla club which was introduced in the twisted series. Also almost all the characters from the twisted series have cameos in this book.

The series will have a total of 7 books but only 4 of them are available right now. The rest of the books release date and who the books are going to be about are yet to be revealed. But the first one in the series is about Vivian and Dante. The second one is about Vivian’s best friend Isabella and Dante’s friend and a member of the Valhalla club Kai.

The third one is about another couple of the club who are good friends of the previous couples. And the 4th and final one for now is about Vivian and Isabela’s friend Slone and her Client Xander.

  1. King of Wrath (Kings of Sin #1)
  2. King of Pride (Kings of Sin #2)
  3. King of Greed (Kings of Sin #3)
  4. King of Sloth (Kings of Sin #4)
  5. King of Envy (Kings of Sin #5)
  6. King of Gluttony (Kings of Sin #6)
  7. King of Lust (Kings of Sin #7)

5. Bree Porter Books

I think i have found my new favorite author even though I’ve not read many books by this author but the two I have read I really enjoyed and can yap about this 24/7 like the dark verse series. I am supposed to read the other three books that are available since there are no updates from the author as she is not active but I kept putting off the rest of the books in the series. I have also seen people who love Rina Kents books recommend books by this author on twitter.

Especially if you liked The Deception trilogy by Rina Kent or other Bratva mafia books by her you’re going to love The Tarkhanov Empire And Rocchetti Dynasty. I’ve read the Tarkhanov empire and it’s already engraved my soul and I’m also reading the last book in the Rochetti Dynasty book (Review and author guide soon).

The Rocchetti Dynasty Series by Bree Porter

The first book follows Sophia Antonia Padovino as she is set to marry the Principe of Chicago Outfit, Alessandro Rocchetti. It begins with her getting ready for the wedding, grieving and memories of her best friend and sister Catherine Rosa Padovino. But soon she says her vows and gets married. The wedding turns into a tragedy and bloodbath. And at the end of the day, her dress fills with blood. The book is very short and contains huge plot twists with spoilers.

The Tarkhanov Empire series follows Konstantin Tarkhanov who is hell bent on building an empire of his own after his father and brother failed to do it rightfully. After leaving everything behind in russian he began working his way from scratch in his new territory, new york and along the way he found new people who slowly became his real family.

And he’s ready to do anything for them. In this journey, he also falls in love with the widow of the enemy, Elena Falcone as she catches his attention. The first two books are about them. And the first one ends on a cliffhanger and the 2nd one starts right where the first one ended with a slightly different timeline. There are supposed to be more books out but since there are no official updates from the author we might not be getting them anytime soon.

Here is the reading order for Bree Porter Books :

  1. The Bloody Bride (The Rocchetti Dynasty, #1)
  2. Principessa of Chicago (The Rocchetti Dynasty, #2)
  3. The Rocchetti Queen (The Rocchetti Dynasty, #3)
  4. Kingpin’s Foxglove (The Tarkhanov Empire, #1)
  5. Empress of Poisons (The Tarkhanov Empire, #2)

The next two are completely based on my never ending TBR list. I’m always hunting for books like Rina Kent or similar themes. And I’m already making it a priority to read them in the next few months.

6. Hollow boys Monty Jay

This is what I’m reading next when i miss the Rina Kent universe. This series has been on my tbr since last year. It’s about a friend group. Each of the boys has their own book. The first one is about Briar and Allister. The 2nd book is about Sage and Rook, and the 3rd and 4th are about the same couple Lyra and Thatcher and the 5th and final one is about Coraline and Silas.

Even though all of them are complete standalones. I’ve read somewhere all the books needs to be in order as it has a side plot or something that continues in all the books. Which kind OF reminds me of the dark verse series and I’m definitely reading this series soon and that too in order.

Here is the recommended reading order :

  1. The Lies we Steal (The Hollow Boys #1)
  2. The Truths We Burn (The Hollow Boys #2)
  3. The Blood We Crave: Part One (The Hollow Boys #3)
  4. The Blood We Crave: Part Two (The Hollow Boys #4)
  5. The Oath we Give (The Hollow Boys #5)

7. Neva Altaj Books

and lastly any Neva Altaj book or series. I have heard many Rina Kent readers like this author’s books because they give off similar vibes. Even if you scroll through the books and similar books option on Goodreads you’ll find Neva Altaj’s books. I have read only one book by her and kinda dnfed it and keep putting off the rest of the series for next time. I know I’m eventually gonna like them because it took me a while to get into sophie Lark books and they are also similar to Rina Kent books.

Also a little fun fact I discovered while researching about this series, almost everyone or at least half of the readers of the series didn’t like the first book but devoured the rest of the books in this series. So I still have hope. Almost all of Neva Altaj’s books are dark romance, crime and mafia settings just like Rina Kent. The series is huge. Yes, the 10 books feels like 10 million books just like my neglected million books from tbr list. But I have added the 7 books down below with a full reading order.

All of them can be read as standalones but you can read in the following order :

  1. Painted Scars (Perfectly Imperfect #1)
  2. Broken Whispers (Perfectly Imperfect #2)
  3. Hidden Truths (Perfectly Imperfect #3)
  4. Ruined Secrets (Perfectly Imperfect #4)
  5. Stolen Touches (Perfectly Imperfect #5)
  6. Fractured Souls (Perfectly Imperfect #6)
  7. Burned Dreams (Perfectly Imperfect #7)
  8. Silent Lies (Perfectly Imperfect #8)
  9. Darkest Sins (Perfectly Imperfect #9)
  10. Sweet Prison (Perfectly Imperfect #10)

Image via Goodreads

And that’s all the books I have rina kent book recs. Hopefully I will make part two because I’m sad I have no books left by Rina Kent. But I will continue my hunt to find new authors and books like Rina Kent’s till she publishes a new book or series while hoping my favorite characters by her gets their book.
