About The Hunger Games :
The hunger games is a book to movie series adaptation of the bestselling author Suzzane Collins. It’s a 4 book series with 5 movies. (Check the Books + Movie Order, here).
It’s about a post-apocalyptic dystopian world called Panem, which is divided into 12 districts and ruled by a dictatorial Capitol. Every year a boy and a girl (between the ages of 12 and 18) from each district are chosen and forced to participate in the live televised event called The Hunger Games.
Where the participants (tributes) have to fight to death in a vast arena created by the Capitol Game makers till one of them survives and the winner gets to return home as a victor and lots of luxury. The winner’s district is also rewarded with food from the Capitol for a year.
The first book and movie follows Katnis Everdeen who volunteers as a tribute for her little sister Prim Everdeen in the 74th Hunger Games. Along with her, Peeta Mellark was selected as tribute from her district. And the survival game begins…

My Favorites + Ranking :

I was really young when the books and movies came out and definitely didn’t get the hype until the ballad of songbird movie announcement and honestly I didn’t even know there was a new book/ prequel published in 2020. But I read all the books and re-watched the movies this year (because I barely have any memory of the hunger games when I watched it back in 2014-2015.
It took me a while to get into the hunger games world but I’m obsessed now and I just can’t stop talking about it. I’ve enjoyed all the books and have mutual feelings and reactions about the movies. But catching fire and the songbird and snakes are my current favorites.
Here’s my ranking of the books and movies :
- Catching Fire
- The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes
- Mockingjay
- The Hunger Games
TBOSAS : Easter Eggs & Parallels :

- “Is Lucy Gray and Katniss related ?” was the first question that came on my mind after watching the trailer. But sadly they aren’t!! There are probably millions of theories and similarities between the characters. Starting from the iconic courtesy/bow when they are selected for tribute.
- The mockingjay has a great symbol throughout the books and movies. Katniss dresses as one in the first movie and addresses her as a mockingjay which also symbolizes rebellion. And in the latest movie, TBOSAS the mockingjay birds appear when lucy gray and snow are together and in the last scene when she fled.
- In the first scene where lucy gray became a tribute she was wearing a corset that had primrose and katniss flowers designed in it which refers to the previous movies characters. Also in one of her last interactions with snow she says “I think I’ll go dig up some katniss…”
- “White Blood, Red Snow…” I actually saw an edit of snow with this edit and I can’t stop hearing about this song whenever i see snow especially with all of his red outfit and white buzz cut.
