With 90s setting, New York, fashion, old money, paparazzi, yearning, beautifully messy and secret romance, Love Story 2026 : John F. Kennedy Jr. & Carolyn Bessette is truly serving. It doesn’t only feel like a show but transporting ourselves to the 90s with oversized black outfits, jeans, whispering headlines, glamours, secret celebrity drama and more. So, after only a few episodes I did what every book over does, finding books with the same aesthetic. Because the show and watching the edits are not enough.

And, I not only found books with the same vibes and aesthetics but some books that take you back to that era and give a better peep into John F. Kennedy Jr. & Carolyn Bessette and their life at that time.

As soon as they met and slowly fell in love , the secret dating era began. And, the romance unfolded with excessive media attention, fame, pressure, more paparazzi, news headlines and tragedy.

This show not only focuses on the 90s’ most popular couple who tried to build their life being private while the entire world scrutinized them.

And, somewhere between all the fame, minimalist fashion, the 90s New York setting, emotionally complicated situations and romance which soon became a tragedy everyone still thinks about. But, with Ryan Murphy’s Love Story 2026 : John F. Kennedy Jr. & Carolyn Bessette we can relive that era and keep them alive forever.

With a clear reflection on real life this book follows the story of John and Carolyn with slight changes in their family dynamics following the main themes of love, loss, politics, old money, grief, complicated love and more.

The Callaway Sister Series by Krista and Becca Ritchie

With constant monitoring of the paparazzi the Callaway sister series follows the story of three sisters, Rose, Daisy and Lily, trying to find their way in the world of love, family and life.

The first one is about Rose, about a Princeton graduate and fashion designer who is forced to take the spotlight when she decides to join a reality show to fix her public image after she started dating her college rival Connor Cobalt. Then we have Daisy Callaway, the youngest Callaway sister. Who began her modelling career very early while navigating fame and slowly discovering what she truly wants.

Then we have a 5 book series about Lily and her childhood best friend to lover Loren Hale who are navigating their life under the public eye while dealing with different addictions. The series follows their life, love and how they grow together in the light of limelight.

We Were Liars by E. Lockhart

With the same vibe as the 90s silent sadness, polished perfection we were liars follows an elite american family the Sinclair’s, living on a private island every summer. The first book focuses on Cadence Sinclair as she is trying to figure out what happened last year, because after a very traumatic brain injury she has lost all her memories and everything feels out of place. As she starts her healing journey she discovers everything is so different and starts to investigate what actually happened last summer.

While she tries to gain her memories back, we get to relieve Cadence’s life, cousins and family and how summer on Beechwood island was. Season 1 of We were liars is based on this book. It has a total of 8 episodes. And it is currently available on amazon prime to stream.

So, this could be a perfect book series to read or watch the series while season 2 soon releases by 2026 – 2027.

By A Thread by Lucy Score

A workplace romance set in the New York city fashion world, like the series Calvin Klein, magazines and luxury aesthetic, this book is about Dominic Russo and Ally Morales. Where Ally works for Dominic’s fashion magazine company. The meet cute wasn’t a really good start but we see nice banter for that in the workplace forced proximity setting.

If you liked the first few episodes of John visiting Carolyn’s office you will really enjoy this book. Especially, how amazingly it captures the series’ New York city and fashion aesthetic.

Marriage For One by Ella Maise

Another book that reminded me solely because of that one scene where John sends flowers to Carolyn’s office because in this book the main character also sends his significant other flowers at her coffee shop. Set in New York city, “Marriage for One” follows a wealthy lawyer Jack Hwthorne who is in a fake marriage with his former client’s niece Rose Hawthorne. 

As they begin their fake married life, slowly become friends which turns into a slow burn romance with mutual yearning like John and Carolyn. A perfect read with a New York setting that feels like the complicated and emotional moments from the series. 

The Empire Series by Rina Kent

When all of Rina Kent’s books are a perfect blend of old money, elite society, powerful dynasties, drama, paparazzi and more it’s hard to pick not only a book but a series too. But, I picked out the empire series, set in New York with darker elements and plot. All of the books are completely standalone set in the same universe.

And, these are all my picks for Love story 2026. I am so obsessed with this series and I hope it gets a season 2 with different stories. But for now I am content with this show and the book recs. And, I know I am definitely reading some of them while watching the series.Hope you liked them too.
