What is the We Were Liars TV Series About ? / We Were Liars Book

The TV series is adapted from E. lockharts bestselling novel by the same name “We Were Liars” which follows the haunting tale of Cadence Sinclair Eastman, an affluent and apparently ideal family, which spends its summers on one of the finest, personal islands off the coast of Massachusetts, involving a teenage girl. But even behind the gold of their privileged existence hidden are the secrets and lies and one shocking truth.

Two years later, Cady comes back to the island having lost her memory, experiencing severe migraines, and being emotionally damaged as a result of a mysterious accident. When she is reuniting with her cousins, Johnny, Mirren and Gat (also referred to as The Liars) she begins to fit together what occurred that summer.

My Review on the We Were Liars Series

So where to begin?– I was kind of prepared for all the trauma that the series would make me go through. But it exceeded my imaginations. As much pain I could feel through reading the book it got even worse watching it. I think the visuals and detailed story telling made it way better than the book.

Yes, I consider the series better than the book. One because it’s been years since I first picked up the book and I was very young when I did, second it was kind of confusing with the timelines and writing style because I was very new to the styles and stuff. But even when I read this book this year it made a lot of sense and made it a lot better not gonna lie. But the series was on a whole new level of good.

We Were Liars Characters and Casts – Let’s start with our honorary Liars!
The casting is so perfect, like I could never think of a better casting for this book to series adaptation. All the casts were so fitting with their characters from the book and tbe way they portrayed.

Cadence Sinclair Eastman – Emily did a really good job playing her role. To bring up the pain from book pages to screen, especially in the final episode she definitely deserves an oscar or emmy award.

Gat- Well I loved the cast of gat but I was kind of hoping someone like dev patel would play his character. But he was perfect.

Mirren – I loved her character and related to her the most. Her vibe matched exactly like the book and honestly made it way better.

Johny? – I don’t know why I watched every single scene of him and was wondering how good the sunrise and the reaping movie will be for him. Joseph Zada did such a good job playing johny especially the hard emotional scenes. He is going to play Haymitch’s role so well, I can’t wait!

Rest of the cast were also equally perfect. The Sinclair family cast was exactly like the book and I really hope they are back for season 2.

All the crumbs of Romance! – I love even when I am reading or watching any thriller or mystery books as the main plot but it also has a subplot of romance. This is literally my taste in books. And, we were liars had it in the book. Well, the book only focused on Cady and Gat which was well portrayed in the series too.

But the series had it better. Like showing Mirren and Ebon. A bit of Carrie and Salty Dan. Well I didn’t like them that much. But I definitely liked everything about Mirren and Ebon, even better than Gat and Cadence.

Spoiler Alert

The final part – I honestly didn’t like the ending of the book and the main story because it emotionally wrecked me to the point I could feel the pain. The liars, the dogs and everything that happens after the incident with Cady is so painful to even think about. I am also mad at caddy for coming up with the idea of arson. Like you have everything, yet doing better and thinking of a better solution you had to light up the house and without any plan act on it, but it was a mistake and they never thought this would ever happen. And it was all fiction which was equally painful to read and watch.
