Better known online as Nassie, the two people in their 20s, went to full-blown subjects of a booktok fandom couple in under a year, complete with match-ups, collaborations, events, and even tattoos devoted to their relationship. Now that we know they have broken up exactly after 6months, it is being questioned whether Nick and Cassie were really dating. Or was it all in order to see views?

Nick and Cassie both are popular content creators. Nick is from the USA, and makes humorous and lip sync videos and Cassie makes bookish and hopeless romantic content. Both are in their early twenties. Nick gained his popularity for this humorous, relatable content and especially cosplaying JJ Maybanks character from outer banks, a popular netflix show. Nick looks a lot like the character and creating content helped him gain popularity and fame.
- Summer 2025 : The start of the ship came around in the summer of 2024 after Nick fans on Snapchat began to see the resemblance in Cassie and her humour and tagged her into his posts. Although they had not met Nick or Cassie, fans were persistent, leaving in comments on their TikToks their names, emojis and making pleading requests to collaborate. Later on, the two made each other Instagram and Tik Tok followers.
- January 2025 : Nothing occurred during many months. Up until January 26, 2025, when Nick randomly dueted one of Cassie’s videos where she is talking about being single and Nick jokingly called her out. That duet turned viral and Nassie was born.
- February 2025 : Nick and Cassie slowly started interacting through their reels teasing about their potential relationship. During the valentines day week the contents got intense. And on February 13, 2025 Nick posted a video of him on an aeroplane hinting he may be on his way to visit cassie for Valentine’s day. On February 17 they actually posted pictures together confirming they have met and went on a date. They made tons of content together and eventually went about their life.
- March 2025 : Next few weeks they kept on making content related to them.
- April 2025 : On april fools day they prank their fans and eventually make more hard launch of their relationship confirming they are in a long distance relationship.
- July 2025 : Cassie posts a youtube video where she shares more about her and Nick.
- August : Nick and Cassie meet again maybe for the last time? But confirming they have broken up out of the blue.

When the breakup occurred most people believed that Nassie was finally over. Dissolving instead of moving on, Nick and Cassie began to post about their breakup. Cassie also took a two-day hiatus before posting and this is said to be calculated to appear heartbroken.
Before they broke up Nick used the old stuff he said about Cassie. It seems that Nick wanted to get one more viral reply. And it’s still happening, people are still talking about them still and hoping they would get back together again. Yes, some people still think they were real and some solely believed they were never.
Reasons Why Fans Believe Nick and Cassie Was Fake
There are many reasons why some people thought it was fake from the beginning. They suspected that Nick and Cassie had more of a PR relationship than anything that included love. Some of the reasons, people refer to it as fake.They did not exhibit a lot of physical affection although they met regularly on several occasions. Cassie was not as involved as Nick in shooting videos, not so many videos of Nassie.
Nick referring to Cassie as his “soulmate” and his “person” were certainly for their content only not to mention the fact that they broke up soon after). Their breakup videos didnT in it felt calculated, insincere, with the romantic shots and pauses in posting.
Fans believe that the entire business is a business tactic- a means by which to take advantage of a viral ship, to land sponsorships, and expand their fanbase. Which they successfully did amd will continue doing.
Were Nick and Cassie Ever Really Together?
There’s no confirmed information on this. But personally, I feel they were never real and it was a pr stunt all along. But I also agree with some of the popular theories on the internet.
- One of them fell in love. It began as a fake, just like booktoks popular fake dating trope but somebody became involved and started growing more attached. .
- One of them did not want another person. An online relationship restricts dating in real life and so it is possible they wanted out.
- It was only PR When the hype reduced, they cut it short because dragging it for the longer term would not be better for any of them
After all is said and done, a lot of Nassie fans feel that Nick and Cassie never actually dated. As popular content creators they did what benefitted more, maintaining a professional relationship while portraying a personal.
