Who is Liz Tomforde ?

Before we dive into books, we need to know about the author behind this beautiful series. Liz Tomforde is a New York Times and USA Today bestselling author. She mostly writes sports romance with strong female characters and the best found family trope. Before that, she was a flight attendant for an NHL Team. Yes, like her popular characters she wrote the books about which eventually inspired her to write the series.

Her books are a blend of sweet swoony romance, spicy, slow burn, strong characters that feel like home. Set in the same world, All of her books are interconnected standalones. Even the series, as Liz Tomforde has announced another series set in the same world, Wilder Woods and the first book will be out on November 3, 2026. Set in Chicago, the Windy City series is a 5 book interconnected standalones which follows professional hockey and baseball players and how they fall in love with the most strong and badass fmcs while exploring emotional character growth, friendship and found family. Each book follows each couple. All of them are interconnected standalones with slightly different timeline and dual pov. Her own league is not part of the Windy city series but the main characters were introduced in this series first and we see them appear in half of the books. It’s actually a spin off book set in the same universe and world. So if you read it in this order it will feel like it’s part of the series anyway and for the best reading experience this order is perfect. The first book is about Zanders who is a NHL athlete best known for his fun personality and questionable reputation. And, Stevie shay a flight attendant on his team’s private plane. But zander thinks she works for him and by the end of the season she will quit her job because of him.

But strong stevie has other plans, starting with humbling him in her way and maybe falling in love wasn’t in any of their plans. But, Liz Tomforde makes them with the best banter, slow burn with the enemies to lovers trope. Which makes you read the book in one setting and maybe continue with the rest of the books in the series.

The Right Move by Liz Tomforde | (Windy City Series by Liz Tomforde #2)

The second book follows Stevie’s Brother Ryan Shay and best friend Indy Ivers. Ryan is the new captain of Chicago’s NBA team the devils and Indy is a flight attendant like Stevie. Due to unavoidable circumstances they are forced to be roommates.

But what happens when two polar opposite people start to live together, more specifically fake dating to slowly fall in love? Well, you have to read to find out. And, if you are a hopeless romance who loves coffee this will be your instant favorite in the series!

Caught Up by Liz Tomforde | (Windy City Series by Liz Tomforde #3)

Kai Rhodes is a burnt out MLB pitcher and single dad. Managing a toddler while balancing and focusing his career has been becoming hard each day. So his coach ,Monty Montgomery assigns his daughter, Miller Montgomery as the nanny for the summer.

Miller is a high-end pastry chef who helps Michelin star restaurants fix their dessert programs, in hopes of earning a star and already has a 4 year waiting list. But this summer she decided to take a break from her work and visit her dad. But, obviously he had different plans for her.

Eventually she agrees as she gets to spend time with him without worrying about travel in return for babysitting Max which she agrees to as it’s temporary and she will leave by the end of this season. But, fate has different plans. If you love swoony, soft and strong characters and even sweeter delicious treats to munch on while reading you will enjoy this book and definitely try some of the Millers recipes that Liz tomford has in store for you in this.

Play Along by Liz Tomforde | (Windy City Series by Liz Tomforde #4)

The 4th book follows Kai’s brother Isahas Rhodes is the baseball for Chicago’s professional baseball team, who has been in love with the team’s athletic trainer Kennedy Kay for years, at least his constant flirting says that so. But, Kennedy is a strong and stubborn woman who is solely focused on her career.

But during a las vegas run in, a drunk mistake makes them married. With fuzzy memory they come to a mutually benefitted deal and decide to stay married while Isaiah attempts to prove years of flirting and pursuing Kennedy was real and turning their fake marriage into real. If you read the previous books, you will see crumbs of them and finally this book will feel like a cherry on top.

Rewind It Back by Liz Tomforde | (Windy City Series by Liz Tomforde #5)

The 5th and final book wraps with Hallie Hart and Rio Deluca. Who were childhood neighbors turned best friends turned teenage lovers but slowly grew apart. After Six years of no contact Hallie gets hired to renovate Rio’s house. The last thing Hallie wanted when she moved to Chicago to take the dream interior design internship all while living next to him as the next door neighbor.

Deciding to keep things professional but the renovation soon forces them to live close and brings out the wounds. Whereas Hallie wants everything above board, Rio has made clear that she is the one that got away and this time he is not going to lose her.

Told in two POVs, Rewind It Back is a second-chance, childhood-to-lovers romance with emotional tension and sweet nostalgia and combined with slow burn chemistry, the perfect ending to the adorable Windy City series.Where we see and bid farewell to our beloved characters, who slowly became families throughout the books one last time.

In her own league is a brand new standalone book set in the windy city series. It’s about Emmett Montgomery and Reese Remmington. Both appeared first in the windy city series books. Emmet in caught up and Reese in Play along. Emment is the Chicago’s MLB Teams coach and Reese is his new boss. She has been preparing for this role her whole life so the last thing on her mind is any sort of distractions as she is under constant scrutiny.

But, Emmet decides to start a professional rivalry, well in a rivals to lovers kind. We also have workplace romance, forced proximity, angst, yearning with the classic Liz Tomforde banter and found family tropes too. And, also without spoiling much there are really perfect scenes with all the windy city series characters. A perfect cherry on top for the windy city universe!

Seems like Liz Tomforde don’t want to say goodbye to the series like us readers. Especiallyx, when we thought the series wraps with the last book, Rewind it back she surprised her readers with Reese and Monty’s book. And, now after In Her Own League by Liz Tomforde she has announced another series set in the same world, the Wilder Woods Seriesby Liz Tomforde!!

“Wilder Woods is a brand new 4-book series based in Northern California featuring the Wilder Family.
