Who is Elle Kennedy?

Elle Kennedy is a New York Times best-selling, and USA Today author with more than 40+ novels but she’s most famous for her BookTok popular college hockey romance series aka “The Off campus series”. She was born and raised in Toronto, Canada (hence the hockey) and began to publish her Off Campus series as self-published novels in 2015 before the days of “sports romance” or BookTok or Prime Video.

She mostly writes sports romance with a college and a mix of booktok popular tropes with the best storylines. Her off campus series One of the best found family groups in the genre is the found family at the centre of the Briar universe. And, hopefully we will see the full universe form though the off campus tv series.

What is the Off Campus Series by Elle Kennedy About ?

Set in the Boston, Massachusetts area, the Off Campus Series is a 5 book interconnected series following 4 different couples from the same group of Briar University hockey players. They can be read in any order but for the best experience I would highly recommend reading in the order they were published as the next books refer to friendships and relationships created in earlier books.

The Deal by Elle Kennedy | (Off-Campus #1)

The first book follows Hannah Wells, a Briar University music major and The captain of Briar’s hockey team, Garrett Graham who is being faced with academic probation that may jeopardize his future in the NHL. As Hannah is the only person getting the highest he tries to convince her to tutor him but she doesn’t want to.

But eventually does when Garatte finds out she has a crush on a guy on their campus and offers her help to get his attention in return for tutoring. So, they make a deal: she teaches him and he pretends to be her boyfriend so she can catch the attention of her musician crush.

It’s the book that began it all. The one that Prime Video took from Season 1. And, we will continue to see this couple in the future books in the briar u universe and the rest of the seasons of Off campus.

The Mistake by Elle Kennedy | (Off-Campus #2)

The second book follows another group member of the Briar u hockey team, College junior John Logan who may be pleasant to be around, but there’s underlying bitterness in his killer grin that nothing will come easily to him after he graduates, unlike Garrett.

It’s a fluke that leads to a mistake when he encounters a freshman named Grace Ivers but things don’t go as planned after their spicy meet cute. Now, he wants to spend his last year proving himself to her that he is worth the second chance. This book centers their story along with all our beloved characters from the first book.

It’s funnier than The Deal, the relationship between Logan and Grace is completely different from Hannah and Garrett but equally better. “he falls first and he has to grovel for it” energy is all the time satisfying. Season 2 warning: This is the book that will be adapted in Off Campus Season 3 on Prime Video.

The Score by Elle Kennedy | (Off-Campus #3)

The 3rd book is about Allie Hayes & another group member Dean Di Laurentiis The rich playboy of the hockey house, is charming, commitment-avoidant, and sure he is the most annoying guy in the room. Allie Hayes, Hannah’s best friend, has just been dumped by her boyfriend, and definitely isn’t on board with Dean’s version of chaos. Feelings come when they’re not wanted, and make a one-time situation complicated.

The Score is for people who consider it a fun thing to see someone meltdown over someone they told themselves they didn’t care about. This book is a very satisfying examination of Dean Di Laurentis, and his having to deal with himself.
As fun as the characters and storyline is, this is the saddest book in the series and a major part of the book so I cant spoil much. Our main characters do get their happy ending and thrive together along with the group.

Also, the showrunner decided to experiment with the order and decided to make season 2 on this book so we will see this book come to life with off campus season 2!

The Goal by Elle Kennedy | (Off-Campus #4)

The fourth and final couple of the series, John Tucker and Sabrina James. Both in their senior year focusing on their career and goals. Sabrina James is pre law, sharp, driven and having to deal with something that she never planned on. The premise of the story, an unplanned pregnancy between two people who have very little in common is handled with a surprising maturity and warmth and slowly falling in love alone the way. We still have all the off campus characters stepping in in their journey to help and prove all over again why this series has the best found family trope.

The Legacy by Elle Kennedy | (Off-Campus #5)

Lastly, the final book in the series follows all the couples after their happily ever after. The off campus fandom waited five years to find the epilogue for the four couples. The Legacy is four interconnected novellas that pick up the thread on all four couples three years after grad school when life has truly begun for all of them. Hannah and Garrett. Logan and Grace. Allie and Dean. Tucker and Sabrina. Everyone is heading to the next chapter of their life together.

This book cannot be read without having first read all 4 main books. This is the reward. The found family homecoming. So, I would highly recommend reading the books in the recommended reading order and have the best time of your life!

And, if you can’t get enough. Don’t worry, that’s not the end. We have a long way to go as The Briar Universe Continues to Grow with The Spinoffs which has 4 books and then the 2nd generation book series aka the campus diaries, which features the kids of off campus series and briar u series.

The Briar U Series by Elle Kennedy 

The Briar U series takes place at the same Briar University, with overlapping characters and cameos from the original characters from the off campus series. Here is the recommended reading order with the couples the book is about. Because you probably have met some of them if you read the off campus series –

All of them are complete standalones and if you haven’t read the off campus series you can still start with this. But I would highly recommend reading the off campus series first then briar u series in the recommended reading order. 

The Campus Diaries Series by Elle Kennedy

Now on to the best part, the 2nd generation series in the off campus universe. The Campus diaries series by Elle Kennedy. This is the latest installment in the Elle Kennedy Off campus and riar u universe which takes place 20 years after the events of Off Campus and stars the kids of the original couples at Briar University just like their parents. This was something Elle Kennedy had planned from the beginning and we are definitely in for the long game. 

So, the campus diaries currently have 3 books. But there are still 2 more books not included in the series but about the kids and set in this timeline and if you read in publishing order it will feel like its part of the series.
