About A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder / Summary :

Tropes – Closed Case, Murder Mystery, Small Town, Secrets + Plot Twists

The first book, A good girl’s guide to murder follows a teenager Pippa Fitz-Amobi, who has started investigating a closed case for her school project that involves a girl named Andie Bell who was murdered by her boyfriend Sal Singh 5 years ago, at least that’s what the town, little Kilton and their people believe.

But she has known Sal since she was young and how nice he was with everyone and refused to believe he could kill Andie. So she’s determined to prove his innocence and solve the mystery herself because “The dead can’t defend themselves, but I can.” with the help of Sal’s brother Ravi Singh.

As they begin their investigation they realize how dark and twisted the case is with multiple suspects, while someone from little Kilton is constantly sending threat notes.

A book to TV adaptation is in the works and will be out this year on July 2024. Checkout the guide here for more details –“The Ultimate Guide to A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder TV Series 1 : Everything You Need to Know”

A Good Girl’s Guide To Murder My Thoughts + Favorite Quotes (Spoiler Free)

“The dead can’t defend themselves, but I can.”

This quote convinced me to read this book but I keep on wondering why I took so long to actually start. Well I was kinda scared with the mixed reviews. Yupp, I read some spoilers too (Accidentally) and I have not finished the next two books. Because I’m planning to start them again after watching the series for a better experience and missing the show. I actually started the paperback last august but I kept putting it off (I don’t even know why) but I couldn’t put it down when I started reading this time.

The writing style, small town mystery setting, a closed case, pip and ravi’s friendship and banter, investigation and production log everything was perfect.

I read the prequel book first so it was easier for me to recognise some characters and how everything worked. Also seeing pips investing side for the very first and how the thought of choosing the closed case of Andie and Sal for her school project brewed.

“Pip wished she was strong enough, but she’d learned that she wasn’t invincible; she too could break.”

I knew I’d love Pip’s character from the day I read the blurb of the book. (Yes, I also know my opinion might change after reading the 3rd book and I honestly don’t know what I’m gonna do then so let me enjoy it for now). I loved how she was determined to see Sal’s innocence, how she continued taking risks even getting threat notes and losing so much till the end of the book.

“In a world of boys, he’s a gentleman” – is the only thing on my mind whenever I read about them. For some reason I thought he was going to be grumpy but he is a goofball, human golden retriever!! I just can’t wait to see him on screen!! It also made me tear up with everything the singh boys went through. But I also hope to see them together on the tv series.

Overall I had an absolutely great time reading the book and I just can’t wait to watch the series and dive back in to read the rest of the books.
