📖 About Caught Up by Liz Tomford :

Caught up is the 3rd book in the Windy City Series. (Check the series guide, here) It’s about Kai Rhodes and Miller Montgomery. Kai first appeared in book 2. He is the starting pitcher for Chicago’s MLB team and keeps firing all the nannies for his 15 month old son as he thinks they are not good for him.

Frustrated, Kais’ coach Monty decides to assign his daughter Miller to be in charge of taking care of Max for the summer. Miller is a high-end pastry chef who helps Michelin star restaurants fix their dessert programs, in hopes of earning a star and already has a 4 year waiting list. But this summer she’s burned out from her work and decides to take a break and visit her dad.

Thinking of the best solution Monty proposes his offer to Miller as she gets to spend time with him without worrying about travel in return for babysitting Max which she agrees to. They had a tough start as Kai has a hard time trusting but over the course of a few weeks they grow close to each other and set some rules as Miller is leaving soon.

Caught Up by Liz Tomford – My Thoughts + Favorite Quotes (Spoiler Free):

I knew from chapter 1 I’m going to have a hard time saying goodbye to this book. I fell in love with all three of them from their meet cute in the elevator + the side characters!! Max is the cutest.

Max blushes, burying his head into the crook of my neck, knocking off his little ball cap in the process.
“He’s being shy.”
“That’s okay, Max. I tend to have that effect on boys”

– This is soooo funnyyy and cuteeee!!! I loved Miller for her badass, sarcastic self and all the max and miller interaction was absolutely the cutest and it just keep getting better!! Also their baking scenes definitely made me bake some goodies!!

“You’re not going to warn her about the boys?” Kai asks as my dad starts up the stairs. “Tell her to stay away from them?”
I roll my eyes at the pitcher.
“Have you met my kid? I shou
ld’ve warned the boys about her. She can take care of herself.”

“Your daughter is unhinged.”
“She’s the best, right?” Monty’s chest rumbles at my annoyance.

– Helppppp… I can’t decide who’s the best dad in this book!!

And Kai… I wish I could just give him a hug 🥺 he’s such a softiee sunshine boyyy. He was everything opposite of what I thought he would be when I read him in book 2.

“But I have to go back,” she continues.
Biting my tongue, I wait until I can find the right response. “Yeah,” I exhale. “You do.”
She tilts her head to look at me. “I do?”
“It’s your dream, Mills. I won’t let you walk away from that because of my son.”
Or because of me.”

Him dealing with his insecurities, past, always worrying if he’s doing a good job raising max and bottling up his emotions and not anything with anyone just made me tear up even more.

But on top of all that he supported Miller through and through and motivated her to follow her dreams. I’m happy how the book was formed. It was the perfect mix of everything sweet, spicy, cute, funny and I’m really excited to see them in the future books!!

“They called us cute.”
“How dare they.”
His head jerks back. “The last word I’d ever use to describe you is ‘cute’.”
“Exactly. God, you know me so well.”
